Taipei-Affected by a cloud system, most of the western part of Taiwan will see sunny to cloudy skies in the first half of Sunday, while eastern and southern Taiwan will receive downpours, according to the Central Weather Bureau.
Some parts in western Taiwan and Taitung in the east as well as the Hengchun Peninsula in the south will see some thundershowers in the afternoon, as a result of a peripheral cloud system induced by a tropical depression near Taiwan, the bureau said.
Highs across the country will range between 31-35 degrees, with areas north of Taoyuan to see the mercury climb to 36 degrees Celsius, it forecast.
A high temperature warning has been issued for Taipei, New Taipei and Taoyuan cities around noon, the bureau said.
Meanwhile, meteorologist Daniel Wu (???) said a tropical disturbance has developed east of Luzon Island in the Philippines, which is not expected to affect Taiwan soon.
Weather across Taiwan will be sunny or cloudy during the day, with moisture around the island reducing, he said.
There will be afternoon showers or thundershowers in mountainous areas throughout the country and some flat areas in central and southern Taiwan, he added.
