Taipei--Free Wi-Fi Internet services are expected to be available on all trains on the Taipei mass rapid transit (MRT) system by year-end, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (???) said on Wednesday.
Ko made the comments during an inspection tour of the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport MRT line, where he also experienced the free Wi-Fi and wireless charging services on the airport MRT trains.
"Free Wi-Fi access is the only thing that sets the airport MRT apart from our mass transit system," Ko said.
"We are confident that wireless access will be available on the Taipei MRT by year-end," he said after exiting the A1 Taipei Station on the airport MRT line, adding that he expects more than 10 million people to pass through the A1 station annually after the line begins commercial operation on March 2.
