Yunlin Lantern Festival ends with record crowds
Taipei--This year's Taiwan Lantern Festival, hosted by Yunlin County, ended Sunday with a large crowd of attendants that might set a 12-day record of 15 million, the organizer said.
Yunlin Magistrate Lee Chin-yung (???) said the annual lantern show has become an internationally known event, for which his county has done its best to demonstrate the earth-friendly and multi-cultural ideas through rural-themes designs and puppet shows.
The county government, with assistance from the central government's Tourism Bureau, has been able to offer such services as tour guides in seven languages, shuttle buses, and even pets carts over the past 12 days that include a 3-day trial run, Lee said.
Next year, Chiayi will take over as host of the Taiwan Lantern Festival.
