Taipei: Temperatures are set to rise across Taiwan on Sunday, leading to a brief period of balmy weather before cooler and wetter conditions return to the north starting Monday evening. This change is attributed to the strengthening of northeast winds, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
According to Focus Taiwan, the weekend will bring mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies across the nation due to weakening seasonal winds and decreasing moisture levels. However, brief showers are expected in areas such as the north coast, the east, the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, and mountainous regions near Greater Taipei. Daytime temperatures are predicted to reach between 25-27 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Taiwan, while central and southern regions may experience highs of 28-30 degrees.
Offshore islands will enjoy mostly sunny conditions, though certain coastal areas might encounter strong winds or long waves. Additionally, fog could impair visibility in central and southern Taiwan late Sunday into early Monday.
The CWA forecasts a slight increase in moisture on Monday, leading to scattered daytime showers in northern and northeastern regions. By Monday evening, the strengthening northeasterly winds are expected to bring rain to more areas in northern Taiwan. Temperatures are anticipated to drop Monday night, with lows ranging from 14-16 degrees in northern, northeastern, and central Taiwan, and 16-18 degrees in the south and east. The cooler morning temperatures could persist through Friday.
