Brief Showers Expected in Greater Taipei and Eastern Taiwan on Monday

Taipei:The Greater Taipei area and the eastern half of Taiwan are anticipated to experience brief isolated showers on Monday, while regions south of Taoyuan are expected to remain cloudy to sunny, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

According to Focus Taiwan, the influence of northeasterly winds may also result in brief isolated afternoon showers in the mountainous areas of Nantou County. Daytime temperatures on Monday are projected to range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius in northern, northeastern, and eastern Taiwan. In other areas, temperatures could rise to 30-32 degrees, with inland areas of southern Taiwan experiencing even higher temperatures during the day. On Monday night, temperatures are expected to drop to lows of 21-24 degrees Celsius nationwide.

The CWA forecasts that strengthening northeasterly winds on Tuesday and Wednesday will bring slightly cooler weather to northern and northeastern Taiwan, with daytime highs around 25-26 degrees. During these days, brief isolated showers are expected in areas north of Taoyuan, in eastern Taiwan, and on the Hengchun Peninsula. Other regions will remain cloudy to sunny, although brief isolated afternoon showers may occur in the mountainous regions of Nantou County.

The seasonal wind system is predicted to weaken on Thursday and Friday, resulting in sunny to cloudy skies across the country, before northeasterly winds intensify again on Saturday, potentially bringing brief isolated showers to some areas. The CWA also provided an update on Tropical Storm In-Fa, which was located approximately 4,640 kilometers east of Eluanbi in southern Taiwan as of 8 a.m. Monday. The storm is expected to move northwest and then turn west-northwest, without directly impacting Taiwan.
