The industry ministry said Monday it has hosted a briefing session for South Korean companies to help them prepare for the European Union's upcoming carbon border policy.The session, the fourth of its kind, was held in Gwangju, 269 kilometers south of Seoul, amid the domestic industry's concerns over the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.CBAM mandates import charges equivalent to carbon emissions from production on items such as steel, cement, electricity, fertilizer, aluminum and other related products.The policy is set to be fully implemented at the start of 2026.The government plans to operate a support channel for companies facing difficulties related to CBAM and offer tailored support for exporters, the ministry said.Source: Yonhap News Agency
