Hualien: A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Hualien County in eastern Taiwan at 8:55 p.m. Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). The epicenter of the temblor was located in the sea about 38.4 kilometers east northeast of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 28.2 km, CWA data showed.
According to Focus Taiwan, there were no immediate reports of damage. The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effects of a temblor, was highest in parts of Hualien and Yilan counties, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's seven-tier intensity scale.
