Puli:Nantou:Nearly 3,000 runners participated in the Puli Power mountain running event in central Taiwan's Nantou County, enjoying scenic routes and local specialties. The event took place on Sunday, with courses passing through Hutoushan Mountain and Liyu Lake, while participants sampled food at 20 stations along the way.
According to Focus Taiwan, the event featured four races: a 42.195-kilometer full marathon, a 24-kilometer race, a 10-kilometer challenge run, and a 5-kilometer family run. This year's course returned to a popular route that included the Geographic Center of Taiwan Monument, Hutoushan Mountain, Liyu Lake, and Chung Tai Chan Monastery.
Participants in the marathon and 24-kilometer races tackled Hutoushan Mountain, which reaches an elevation of 650 meters. Along the route, they enjoyed local treats such as water bamboo, passion fruit, chocolate, curry bread, roasted pork, and mullet roe. An agricultural products fair also took place at the main venue, offering local produce and food from numerous stalls.
Puli Power has been held for 11 years, blending running with the area's scenery and cuisine, providing a unique experience for participants to explore Puli's landscapes and food, stated Puli Township chief Liao Chi-cheng.
