Taipei: Taiwan Railway Corp. (TR) suspended a limited number of train services Friday after sea and land warnings were issued for Typhoon Bavi, and said it would announce operating arrangements for trains scheduled before noon Saturday by 9 p.m. Friday.
According to Focus Taiwan, the state-owned company canceled all tourist trains on Friday, including the Breezy Blue, Haifeng, Shanlan, and Future services. The Breezy Blue operates on the South Link Line between Fangliao and Taitung, while the other tourist trains serve scenic routes around Taiwan.
TR also halted all services of local trains No. 4742 and No. 4744 on the Pingxi Line in northern Taiwan, in addition to Train No. 452, an overnight service on the Eastern Main Line. The railway operator indicated that train operations for services scheduled before noon Saturday will rely on the typhoon's latest movements, with updated information set to be released by 9 p.m. Friday.
Under TR regulations, passengers with unused tickets for travel during the period covered by the sea warning can obtain a refund without incurring a handling fee, valid within one year of the travel date. Round-trip tickets are also eligible for fee-free refunds.
