Taipei: Taiwan's Tourism Administration is set to introduce a range of incentives from September, including NT$5,000 travel credits for repeat foreign visitors and subsidies for company-sponsored trips and domestic hotel stays. According to Focus Taiwan, the administration will initiate weekly lotteries starting in October for independent foreign travelers who have previously visited Taiwan. Winners will receive an NT$5,000 (US$156) stored-value travel credit, with an additional NT$3,000 credit available for one accompanying traveler.
The program targets foreign passport holders without a Taiwan residence permit who have visited Taiwan at least once since January 1, 2023. Eligible travelers can register on a designated website from seven to 90 days before their arrival, with the site opening at 10 a.m. on October 1. The program runs for travelers entering Taiwan between October 10 and March 31, 2027. Winners can redeem credits at 7-Eleven stores and load them onto icash 2.0, iPASS, or EasyCard for use at participating merchants throughout Taiwan.
The administration is also extending additional subsidies to overseas companies and organizations bringing groups to Taiwan for company-sponsored reward trips. Organizers can receive an additional NT$1,000 per person per night, up to NT$4,000 per person, for stays at licensed accommodations in specified regions, between October 10 and March 31, 2027. This subsidy complements an existing incentive travel program that offers NT$20,000 to NT$150,000 per group for three-day, two-night trips, or NT$400 to NT$800 per traveler for longer stays, depending on group size.
Applications for company-sponsored reward trip subsidies must be submitted at least 15 days before the group's arrival. Additionally, international visitors attending conferences or exhibitions in Taiwan from September 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, will receive a complimentary Taiwan Tour Bus package offering a half-day or one-day guided tour, along with a Taiwan PASS (THSR Edition) for unlimited Taiwan High Speed Rail travel over three consecutive days.
The Tourism Administration will also support internationally renowned concerts and flagship entertainment events to boost Taiwan's appeal as a destination for large-scale events. For domestic travelers, weekday lodging subsidies are available from September 1 through November 30 for Taiwanese citizens. Eligible travelers can receive subsidies of up to NT$800 for the first night and NT$1,200 for the second, with higher subsidies for stays on Taiwan's outlying islands.
The administration is offering birthday lodging vouchers worth NT$1,200 to 12,000 Taiwanese citizens, with registration opening Thursday and results announced on September 9. These vouchers are valid from September 10 through December 31. Travelers purchasing the Taiwan PASS (Taiwan Railways Edition) between September 1 and December 31 can choose between a 50 percent discount on the pass or an NT$1,500 weekday lodging voucher, which can be combined with other lodging subsidies.
Taiwan-based companies organizing domestic employee trips between September 1 and December 15 can also receive subsidies, provided they meet specific requirements. Organizers of two-day, one-night employee tours can receive NT$20,000 per group, with a maximum of NT$60,000 per company. A legislative review on August 14 approved funding of approximately NT$3.33 billion for these initiatives.
