Taiwan Secures First Little League World Series Title in 29 Years

Taipei: Taiwan celebrated a momentous victory as Taipei's Dong Yuan Elementary School triumphed over a Las Vegas team with a 7-0 scoreline, securing the Little League World Series title. This win marks Taiwan's first championship in 29 years, with their last victory dating back to 1996 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

According to Focus Taiwan, the victory ended a long-standing drought for Taiwan in the prestigious baseball tournament. Team manager Lai Min-nan expressed his satisfaction, stating, "It has been a very long time ... and we finally made it." Lai, who previously managed a Dong Yuan team that was eliminated after four games in 2015, emphasized the dedication and persistence required, quoting a Taiwanese proverb, "There is a saying in Taiwan that it takes 10 years to sharpen a sword."
