Taipei:The Taiwan Stock Exchange's main index experienced a notable decline as it opened on Friday. The index fell by 228.54 points, settling at 46,139.79.

According to Focus Taiwan, the turnover for the opening session was recorded at NT$10.20 billion, equivalent to approximately US$313.47 million.
