Mossel bay: Taiwan concluded the 2026 World Outdoor Tug of War Championships in South Africa with an impressive haul of four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. The event showcased Taiwan's continued dominance in the sport, particularly in the women's weight classes, where they secured titles for the fifth year running.According to Focus Taiwan, on the final day of the four-day competition held in Mossel Bay, Taiwan achieved two golds, two silvers, and one bronze. Notably, the senior women's 540-kilogram team clinched its fifth consecutive world title, underscoring their consistent excellence in the discipline. The women's under-23 500-kg team also stood atop the podium, adding another gold to Taiwan's tally, while the junior mixed 520-kg team brought home a silver medal.In the men's categories, Taiwan's under-23 600-kg team secured silver, while the senior men's 560-kg team achieved a bronze, marking its best-ever performance in this category. The previous day, Taiwan had already made significant st rides with two golds and one bronze. The senior women's 500-kg team and the junior women's 480-kg team both captured gold, with the latter securing a fourth consecutive championship. The senior men's 600-kg team also contributed with a bronze medal.President Lai Ching-te extended his congratulations to the Taiwanese athletes, acknowledging their remarkable accomplishments on the world stage. The Taiwanese delegation, consisting of 79 members, participated across 11 categories at this year's championships.In the previous edition of the World Outdoor Tug of War Championships held in Nottingham, England, Taiwan had similarly demonstrated its prowess by winning five gold and two silver medals.
