Linfen: Taiwanese athletes Yang Kun-pi and Liu Wan-yu secured gold in the trap mixed team event at the Asian Shotgun Cup 2025 on Wednesday. Yang and Liu outperformed Iran’s team of Beyranvand Mohammad and Parvaresh Nia Marziyah to clinch the top position.
According to Focus Taiwan, Yang’s precision was evident as he missed only one clay pigeon across three matches, recording scores of 24, 25, 25. Liu also delivered strong performances with scores of 24, 23, 24. Their combined score of 145 enabled them to advance to the final against their Iranian counterparts.
In the decisive final, Yang and Liu triumphed over the Iranian team with a score of 46-37, culminating in a final score of 191. This victory marked Yang and Liu’s second gold medal in a trap mixed team event since their success at the 2025 ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Buenos Aires.
In addition to their team success, both Yang and Liu achieved individual accolades in their respective trap events. Yang secured a silver medal, finishing behind Japan’s Michihide Tamura, while Liu earned a bronze, following China’s Wu Cuicui and Lu Yanyan, who claimed gold and silver.
Speaking with CNA, Yang expressed satisfaction with their achievement, noting the gold medal helped mitigate his disappointment from the individual event. He emphasized his commitment to continue striving for excellence in upcoming competitions, including the Asian Games and the Olympics.
Yang also matched the Asian Shooting Confederation record during the qualification phase, achieving a score of 124 alongside Qatari competitor Mohammed Al-Rumaihi.
The Asian Shotgun Cup 2025 took place in Linfen, China, from June 1 to June 12.
