Taoyuan Taxi Fares to Increase During Lunar New Year

Taipei: Taxi fares in Taoyuan will see an increase of NT$50 (US$1.58) per trip during the Lunar New Year holiday from February 13 to February 22, as announced by the Taoyuan City government’s Department of Transportation on Monday. This measure is being implemented to adjust for the heightened demand during the festive period.

According to Focus Taiwan, taxi services that begin at Taoyuan International Airport will incur a higher surcharge of NT$100 per trip during the same period. The transportation department has clarified that for trips extending into nighttime surcharge hours, fares will be determined based on the time the passenger boards the taxi.

Passengers experiencing issues such as overcharging or refusal of service are encouraged to document the taxi’s license plate number, along with the time and location of the incident. Such incidents should be reported to the city’s 1999 hotline or the police at (03) 332-5368 for appropriate action.

Violations related to fare increases or service refusals will result in fines, as stipulated by the Highway Act or the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act.
