President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday designated an additional 14 areas in the country's south as special disaster zones following the recent deadly downpours, his office said. The areas, including Gimhae and Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province and Jangheung-gun in South Jeolla Province, were given the designations following the heavy downpours in late September. The designation makes the areas eligible for the government's financial support for recovery work, relief funds for victims and other benefits.Yoon ordered swift emergency recovery efforts in the affected areas and urged maintaining full readiness in other regions due to the possibility of downpours in October, according to presidential spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon.CSource: Yonhap News Agency
