Yilan: A 33-year-old Indonesian scooter driver was killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Yilan County Monday morning, according to local police. The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Sanxiang Road and Sanzhong Road in Dongshan Township at approximately 7 a.m.

According to Focus Taiwan, the scooter driver was pronounced dead on arrival at Camillian St. Mary's Hospital in Luodong. His passenger, a 31-year-old Indonesian man who is also an immigrant worker, sustained injuries to his left shoulder and required surgery.

Local authorities reported that neither the scooter driver nor the pickup driver, a 47-year-old man surnamed Chang, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The case has been handed over to prosecutors for further investigation to determine the cause of the deadly accident.
