Taipei: A Taiwanese government-backed drone alliance and a Polish unmanned system industry group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop a "non-China" supply chain for drones and work together on key technologies. The MOU, signed by the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (Tediboa) and the Polish Chamber of Unmanned Systems (PISB) in Poland, aims to strengthen ties between the Taiwanese and Polish drone industries.
According to Focus Taiwan, the agreement will not only pave the way for creating a non-China supply chain and integrating drone systems but will also support laws favorable to the market and plans for future joint testing at cross-border technology exhibitions. Taiwan's Economics Minister Kung Ming-hsin, who witnessed the signing, emphasized the significance both countries place on information security and the establishment of supply chains without Chinese involvement.
Poland was Taiwan's largest export market for drones last year, indicating that collaboration between the two countries is already in progress. This new agreement further solidifies their partnership in the drone industry. Tsao Chin-pin, chairman of Tediboa, highlighted the impact of the Russo-Ukrainian war on international defense strategies, noting that drones have become an essential component of national security.
Since its founding, Tediboa has focused on integrating Taiwanese drone companies and fostering collaboration with friendly nations to enhance the global competitiveness of its members. Established in September 2024 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tediboa aims to promote growth in Taiwan's drone industry, boost innovation, and help domestic companies enter international markets. The organization is currently led by Taiwan's fighter jet developer, Aerospace Industrial Development Corp., along with other domestic Taiwanese drone companies.
