Taipei: Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) announced that it will operate 395 additional train services during the 2026 Lunar New Year transportation period, with tickets set to go on sale at 12 a.m. on Friday. The expanded service schedule will span 11 days, from February 13 to February 23, to accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger numbers during the holiday, which runs from February 14 to February 22.

According to Focus Taiwan, the additional services will bring the total number of trains operating during this period to 2,162. Of these, 170 trains will run southbound and 225 northbound. To enhance capacity and flexibility for travelers, each train will feature between two and nine non-reserved seating cars during peak travel times.

Tickets for the Lunar New Year period can be purchased through the T-EX mobile app, THSRC's online booking system, partner convenience stores, station ticket counters, and automated ticket machines. The company has made it possible for passengers to book tickets for the entire transportation period in one transaction.

THSRC plans to encourage off-peak travel by continuing to offer early-bird discounts during the holiday season. A total of 617 designated off-peak services will feature limited early-bird fares at discounts of 50 percent, 20 percent, or 10 percent, providing more than 84,000 discounted seats over the 11-day period.
