Taipei: Taiwan welcomed 4.29 million international visitors in the first half of 2026, marking a 2.3 percent increase from the previous year, the Tourism Administration announced on Wednesday. From January to June, Taiwan received 4,294,589 international visitors, identifying Japan as the largest source market, followed by Hong Kong and South Korea.

According to Focus Taiwan, as of July 15, total visitor arrivals had reached approximately 4.55 million, representing a 1.6 percent rise from the same period in the prior year. The data revealed that visitor arrivals from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, the United States, and India experienced growth exceeding 9 percent during the period.

However, the statistics indicated a decline in arrivals from several key regions, including Hong Kong and Macau, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and China, compared to the previous year. The tourism agency emphasized its commitment to monitoring global travel conditions and adapting its marketing strategies to bolster arrivals from essential overseas markets.
