Taipei: Taiwanese TV movie "Though Dead, Still Alive" has earned two prestigious international nominations, for best TV movie at the Seoul International Drama Awards and best supporting actress at Singapore's ContentAsia Awards. The 85-minute black comedy was broadcast on the Taiwanese-language channel of the Taiwan Public Television Service Foundation and received the honors on August 6 and 7, respectively.

According to Focus Taiwan, the film stars Fang Wen-lin, Hsia Ching-tin, and Yang Shiau-li, and follows a family's absurd and desperate scheme to keep a vegetative member "alive" on paper to continue receiving subsidies. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Yang expressed hope that the film would reach a wider audience and bring more attention and energy to the issues it addresses.

Fang Wen-lin's performance as a sharp-tongued, hot-tempered mother-in-law earned her the ContentAsia nomination. This role marks a significant departure from her previous gentle roles. On her chances of winning the award, Fang remarked that she was not overly concerned about the outcome. She considered the real reward to be part of a unique production that highlights the challenges of long-term care.
