Taiwanese Envoy Removed from Geneva Post Following Workplace Bullying Findings

Geneva:Taipei Greg Lee has been removed from his position as head of Taiwan's representative office in Geneva after an investigation found he engaged in workplace bullying, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) stated. Lee has since returned to Taiwan and is currently working at MOFA's Taipei headquarters.

According to Focus Taiwan, the decision to recall Lee to Taipei was approved by the Cabinet following a recommendation from MOFA. Lee is now working at MOFA's Department of Treaty and Legal Affairs, starting his duties on Monday.

The investigation, conducted by an ad hoc team formed by MOFA, revealed that Lee frequently "shouted and yelled" during meetings and repeatedly criticized or obstructed some of his subordinates. The team concluded that Lee had abused his power, creating a hostile work environment that harmed the physical and mental health of office staffers who filed complaints.

In addition to the bullying allegations, Lee was accused of misusing public resources for personal purposes in late July. However, MOFA has not disclosed whether these allegations are under investigation by the ministry or another agency.
