CWA Lifts Sea Warning for Tropical Storm Saudel

Taipei: The Central Weather Administration (CWA) lifted its sea warning for Tropical Storm Saudel at 2:30 p.m. Friday as it no longer posed a threat to Taiwan.

According to Focus Taiwan, the sea warning had been issued Thursday. At 2 p.m. Friday, Saudel was located about 180 kilometers north of Matsu and was moving west-southwest at 25 kilometers per hour (kph), the CWA reported. The storm made landfall on the coast of China's Zhejiang Province at 8 a.m. Friday, the agency said.

Meanwhile, southwesterly winds were expected to bring brief heavy showers and localized downpours to Pingtung County and mountainous areas of Kaohsiung on Friday, the CWA noted. Heavy rain was also possible in Taichung and Nantou, as well as mountainous areas of Yunlin and Chiayi, with warnings of lightning and strong gusts.
