Bangkok: The Prime Minister of Thailand has stated that urgent measures are being taken to assist four Thai citizens who were kidnapped by Myanmar forces. The Prime Minister emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring their safe return, with plans to summon Myanmar's ambassador for discussions on the matter.According to Thai News Agency, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sengiampong revealed that the ambassador of Myanmar will be called in for talks, confirming that the Thai citizens are currently safe and expressing optimism about their situation. The incident, which involved a Myanmar warship firing upon a Thai fishing vessel, resulted in two injuries, one fatality, and the capture of four Thai nationals, amid a total of over thirty individuals on board. The circumstances of the incident, particularly whether there was any encroachment, remain unclear.The Prime Minister reiterated Thailand's global stance against violence, underscoring the country's commitment to peaceful resolutions. Following t he incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has maintained constant communication and is actively pursuing diplomatic channels to resolve the situation. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Phumtham Vejchai indicated that the General Border Committee has protested the use of violence and is seeking a thorough investigation, as well as the return of the vessel and the detained Thais.Minister Sengiampong further stated that a formal letter expressing concern has been sent to Myanmar, and that talks are scheduled for December 2.
