Nantou: Nantou in central Taiwan has been named one of the top seven destinations in Asia for fresh air in February by online hotel booking platform Agoda.

According to Focus Taiwan, Agoda released a statement earlier this month indicating that the list of seven destinations for travelers to enjoy fresh and healthy air was based on historical PM2.5 data. Agoda highlighted Nantou County as an area surrounded by mountains and lakes, offering a serene escape with good air quality. The statement added that visitors could explore the picturesque Sun Moon Lake and appreciate the tranquil surroundings, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.

B2B tourism website Travel and Tour World (TTW) supported Agoda's assessment, noting that the iconic Sun Moon Lake in Nantou reflects its pristine surroundings, giving the county an atmosphere akin to stepping into a painting. TTW further mentioned that Nantou's central mountains, filled with crisp mountain air, enhance the peaceful vistas, creating a haven for travelers seeking tranquility.

Alongside Nantou, other destinations featured on Agoda's list include Sapporo, Japan; Kuching, Malaysia; Singapore; El Nido in the Philippines; Gangneung on the eastern coastline of South Korea; and Koh Lipe, a small island in southern Thailand. Agoda stated that these destinations are not only expected to offer cleaner air but also a variety of experiences, ranging from cultural festivals to natural wonders.
